William G. Zimmermann and Mark Alspaugh, P.E. founded Overland Conveyor Co., Inc. (OCC) in 1993.
Both principals had extensive belt conveyor backgrounds with manufacturers such as The Goodyear
Tire & Rubber Co. and Continental Conveyor & Equipment Co. prior to this endeavor.
The goal was to build an excellent technical support consulting company specializing in handling
bulk materials with belt conveyors. Emphasis was put on integrity in both engineering and personal
relationships with clients. OCC established several strategic alliances with component
manufacturers and service providers who rely on belt conveyor users for the majority of their
sales or service. These companies represent industry leaders who are looking for ways to add
value to their components
In May of 2000, OCC was fortunate to attract Allen V. Reicks, P.E. who had been Chief Engineer
for Precision Pulley and Idler. Mr. Reicks brought strong experience to the team in manufacturing
and component design and has since become Director of our Research and Development efforts,
Vice President, a Board member and equity partner.
In April of 2002, OCC merged assets with Martin Consultants Inc and Thomas Martin, P.E.. Mr.
Martin brought years of experience in mine design and economic evaluations including route
optimization, feasibility studies, risk analysis, budgetary estimates and preparation of bid
Today, OCC is an association of 17 belt conveyor professionals dedicated to excellence in belt
conveyor design, engineering and troubleshooting using an integrated systems approach. OCC has
established long-term relationships with mining companies who rely on belt conveyors to transport
bulk materials. Services provided include operations driven system integration of conveyor
components through advanced system modeling and simulation, performance monitoring and preventive
In 2005, OCC expanded from its consulting base to being a leading worldwide supplier of belt
conveyor engineering software tools. Its Belt Analyst™ suite has become the international
standard used by mining engineers, consultants, engineers, manufacturers and service providers
in all bulk materials mining and processing industries.
In August 2006, OCC moved to its current location with 7,000 sq-ft of office and a fully equipped
